What is Elevate Culture?

Elevate Culture is a registered 501 c3 dedicated to supporting creative projects that help make the world a better place. Founded in August 2012 by a small team of young, independently affiliated professionals, Elevate Culture is an investment in the creative, artistic, and entrepreneurial spirit of America. We support spiritually sound and intellectually introspective cultural visionaries through a holistic model that includes: funding, talent management, networking, and lateral synergy.

Our goal is to contribute to a dynamic and inclusive cultural matrix in North America that inspires creativity, uplifts the spirit, and empowers each soul to reach its full creative potential. EC supports artists from different faith backgrounds, with a focus on American Muslims artists and entrepreneurs.

Why

Culture is the nourishment of human thought. It provides the soil for human interaction, thought, design, and innovation. Elevate Culture believes that at the heart of many social problems is a need for a robust culture equipped to address the physical, spiritual, and social needs of individuals. The inspiration needed to take humanity to the next level is hidden within our souls, waiting to be molded by our talents and passions.

Cultural Imperative

Elevate Culture was inspired by the Cultural Imperative. In his paper, “Islam and the Cultural Imperative”, Dr. Umar Faruq Abd-Allah sums up the relationship between Islam and culture in these eloquent terms:

“For centuries, Islam struck a balance between temporal beauty and ageless truth and fanned a brilliant peacock’s tail of unity in diversity from the heart of China to the shores of the Atlantic. Islamic jurisprudence helped facilitate this creative genius. In history, Islam showed itself to be culturally friendly and, in that regard, has been likened to a crystal clear river. Its waters (Islam) are pure, sweet, and life-giving but—having no color of their own—reflect the bedrock (indigenous culture) over which they flow.”
